Baton Rouge was fun. We were only playing 1 show there but because of the way the travel worked out we got pretty much a whole day off when we arrived. This gave us some time to explore and enjoy some of the great food.
We started with breakfast at Poor Boy Lloyds for breakfast. It was great. Apparently we weren’t the only ones who thought so as the next day President Obama ate lunch there! There had been rumour ever since we checked in the hotel that the president was staying there. He was in town giving a speech at a local high school and the not-so-secret service were all over our hotel. It was unlikely he actually stayed there but he did come and get lunch directly opposite and I managed to see him, albeit from a distance but I am claiming a sighting!!
Baton Rouge lies on the banks of the Mississippi River. We went exploring and walked along the train tracks that line the side of it. It was a lovely walk, not least because the weather was so good. The blue skies reflected the river and it was nice and the light in the late afternoon from the low winter sun made for good photography conditions!
