We arrived in the in the early ours of the morning from Savannah. I managed to grab a couple of hours sleep then I met with the band and our blue man captain, Mike, in the lobby at 8am and we were whisked off to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to run a workshop. We met with students on the theatre program there and had the opportunity to showcase some of the music we use in Blue Man Group and talk to them about the challenges as an actor the job presents us with. It was a great opportunity to talk about the show from and acting stand point and respond to some really insightful and interesting questions. We were made to feel very welcome.
We were staying a little ways out of the city and it was pretty cold when we were there so I didn’t get to explore as much as I would have liked but the shows were really well received and I had the added bonus of having a visit from two dear friends of mine. I hadn’t seen Nick and Sarah years but we have always stayed in touch. Between us, in the years since we were all last in the same room we have had enough adventures in various far flung places from America, to Australia, to India, to Mongolia that we had some serious catching up to do. It was a real pleasure.
The Blue Man team was up early on our last morning in Raleigh and off to the airport. It meant that the Sheboygan Division C Third Team Reserve Rhodesian Ridgebacks got to make their first journey in full uniform. We turned a few heads at the airport and thankfully the police officer who asked us what kind of team we were had a sense of humour in response to our many and varied responses. I don’t think he believed were a speed reading team.
