I have just returned from the public library here in Melbourne. As I first walked in the door I heard classical piano music playing but it had a certain quality to it that told me it was not recorded but live. It turns out that there is. Piano on the first floor of the library that is open to anyone from the public to play. I had to wait for a while before a computer became available and it was a pleasure to sit and listen to the young Japanese girl at the piano.

I resisted the urge to play chopsticks when she had finished.
