This weekend my Dad and I headed to the South Coast to catch our team, West Ham United play away against Portsmouth.
What an awesome day. My mate Haydn had stayed over the night before (no funny business!) so we dropped him home on the way. Other than that it was a great run down.
I have to say that the people of Portsmouth were very hospitable and friendly to away fans. They couldn’t do enough for us. We sat in a cafe near the ground and got ourselves a good feed before the game and had a chat with some of the home fans.
I loved Portsmouth’s stadium, Fratton Park. It is a real ‘old school’ football ground with pillars holding the stands up and the seats having been put directly on the steps of the old terracing.
The Hammers fans were in fine form, shame the team wasn’t. I shouldn’t complain, we won, but we made hard work of it and really, I think Portsmouth deserved a little more than they got!
Either way, it was a good day out and great to spend some time with my Dad.
a good result although having to rely on a penalty. At least it keeps us in touching distance of Southampton.
It was great day out
